I have a plan which is explained below that needs action from you all along with all paper mill owners of the world to remove gloomy state of mental condition of paper mill personnel due to monotonous and laborious work.
Most of the paper mill personnel do the same type of work as he has been trained or assigned for that. He may not know what is happening before and after his jurisdiction. Even he slowly realizes what he knew during his specialization he is forgetting slowly. My thinking (plan) is in different line which I am trying to explain. Some body may question it is equally true for all personnel working in all continuous process industries.
Then why I am only interested for paper mill industry? This is because I felt the pinch for more than 50 years. If with God’s grace I am successful others will follow for other industries too.
In my plan all the paper mill personnel both seniors and juniors should be involved in a specially designed education system in the mill itself so that every personnel have the complete idea of the process of the mill.
In other words every one can visualize the entire paper mill process.
What sort of special course can be formulated for this purpose in every paper mill premises without any cost to fulfill all the requirement of an integrated pulp and paper mill? It is a million dollar question in front of us.
As I have initiated this topic it is quite natural I have some plan in my mind which I can bring to your notice after observing your opinion.
Actually an integrated pulp and paper mill is a complex place – a mixture of so many technologies such as paper technology, all most all branches of Engineering that is , Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Civil, Steam and Power and Instrumentation along with Effluent Treatment, Labour and Factory Laws, etc.
Actually so far my knowledge goes there is no Institute where all the above subjects are taught in any consolidated course. If any where even such course is happened to be existed in any part of the world it will not be affordable to all paper mill personnel. Off-course that does not mean such course cannot be framed by all of us if we feel it is necessary.
When framed it can be taught in every paper mill premises irrespective of its size and location. Such activity if actually done will be memorable and may be honored by terming it as Institute of Paper Mill Technology.
In such Institute the Principal will be the Mill Manager, the teachers shall be the all Departmental Heads, students shall be all educated paper mill personnel both seniors and juniors and the course has been framed in my book PAPER MILL MANUAL framed will cover nearly 85 % of the required course and the remaining 15% will be left to the concerned teachers. That portion will be included in the course.
Some body may think why the seniors shall be taught. It is seen the seniors while working days and night in the mill practically forget so many detailed calculations and process parameters which they learned earlier.
This opportunity will give them to recapitulate the forgotten knowledge and feel them re-energized. The idea may appear to be funny and impractical and it is quite natural as this is a new idea.
Someone may think why it is necessity that every paper mill personnel should know the entire paper mill operation. Here is the point the writer wants to strike as they are all human being. They have right to feel the entire elephant.
If the language of the course becomes a problem in any country, it may be translated in the language of that country after fulfilling the terms and condition as indicated in the web site of the book. Of-course rules and regulations of Factory, Steam and Power generation and distribution system, Effluent treatment and disposal, etc shall be as per laws of the country.
