how paper made

Have you ever wondered how a thin, soft thing can be made out of something waste? Yes! Paper can be made out of waste like recycled newspaper, cloth, cardboard etc. Plant fiber is the most essential factor used to make paper. Earlier wood pulp was the only way to produce fiber for making paper. It also caused deforestation and directly affected the environment. Development in industries and development in technology had made it possible to yield paper by waste fiber.

At the very first, paper pulp is separated from water and pressed in a thin sheet and then dried. This is the primary method of making paper. It also includes proper steps where machines are included which gives the efficient results.

Time when paper was made by hand

In earliest days, paper was made at home from strips of the papyrus plant almost five thousand years age in Egypt. Traditionally fiber is derived from inner bark of the plants.

Further the fiber is soaked, cooked, rinsed and hand-beaten (traditionally) to form the paper pulp and it is then dried. The tradition of manufacturing paper by hand is still running in some parts of the Asian countries.

Paper made by machines

New technologies have made everything easy and it also consumes less time and energy. Different machines which have their own respective functions work effectively to make good quality of paper and also save the environment.

Different machines are made to work separately and give the positive results. Parason yields machines that can fetch the fiber from even recycled cloth, paper or waste cardboard. Convert the fiber into pulp by mixing water. It has high con pulper which mixes the pulp with water evenly.

The contaminants entered due to recycled newspaper and raw material is separated effectively so that it won’t affect the paper. Contaminants like dust, ink can give bad results as well as can affect the working process of machine.

Therefore, it is necessary to remove contaminants before moving to the further procedure. Subsequently, the water from the pulp is removed so the pulp is dried. Pressure is put on the pulp to get thin sheet. The process of handmade paper making process is similar to the process in the industries today. But today machinery has a huge impact on environment.

Different types of paper

Paper also has different types and different making process.

  • Gloss Paper
  • Low quality paper (low GMS)
  • High quality paper (High GMS)
  • Matt coated
  • Cotton Paper

Paper used in books, newspaper or broachers differ the quality as well as the making process. Quality machines help to yield quality papers.
