About Andhra Paper Limited

Andhra Paper Limited
, established as Andhra Pradesh Paper Mills in 1964, underwent a name change in 2020, transitioning from International Paper APPM Limited. The company's history dates back to 1921 when Carnatic Paper Mills Ltd. was established in Rajahmundry, later taken over by The Andhra Paper Mills Co. Ltd. in 1929.

After the formation of Andhra Pradesh in 1953, the state government assumed control of Andhra Paper Mills, with a capacity of 10 TPD. In 1964, a joint venture between the government and industrialist Mr. G. D. Somani led to the formation of "The Andhra Pradesh Paper Mills Ltd." In 1966, Mr. Somani transferred rights to West Coast Paper Mills Ltd., eventually owned by Digvijay Investments Ltd. in 1981, under the control of Mr. L. N. Bangur.

International Paper (IP) acquired a 75% stake in the company in October 2011, marking a significant foreign acquisition in the Indian paper industry. In December 2013, the company adopted the name "International Paper APPM Limited" to acknowledge its association with IP while preserving ties to its historical brand.

In October 2019, West Coast Paper Mills Ltd. (WCPM) acquired the controlling stake from IP, making Andhra Paper Limited a subsidiary of WCPM. WCPM, part of the S.K. Bangur Group and established in 1955, is a major producer of printing, writing, and packaging paper in India.

In January 2020, the company rebranded as Andhra Paper Limited, aligning the name with its core business and restoring a sense of historical significance. The production facilities in Rajahmundry and Kadiyam boast a total capacity of 240,000 TPA, contributing to the company's position in both domestic and international markets. With approximately 2,500 employees, Andhra Paper Limited continues to play a key role in the paper industry. Source
